Whats the deal with this life we leave? the problem is there's no attention to standards for anything. whether its in personal relationships or in industry or other aspects of life.
The deal here is that life feels like its on a free fall. looking around, one gets the distinct imression that nothing matters anymore, focus is now shifting to money, wealth aquisiton, fashion and other worldly possessions including "being seen".
Well i guess its the value system that we are brought up with. it used to be family, friends and meaningful personal relationships. Now, now its just associations of convinience, 100,000 friends on facebook who are actually just associates who want to see how badly or well you are doing both of which will have their own reactions.
I guess for each of us its crucial not to loose focus on what is important i.e. what will make a difference for us and those around us.
And one more thing people, let's do things in moderation whether it be eating, drinking, loving, enjoying this world or basically living. Moderation will allow for a well rounded, well balanced society and world for those we refer to as the future generation. That's all. later.

Just a thought – 11.03.2011
Hey voter, it’s me again. Let me ask you. Are we not a powerful lot, we the voter in this country? Shouldn’t you, I , we all share in the respect and recognition that should be awarded to us by these representatives we call our leaders? Are they not here to serve us? Are they aware of the mantra governing the selfless commitment to service to the masses, the electorate?
Leadership in this country is based on the wrong premise due to there being a misconception that leadership automatically translates to wealth acquisition and is a lifetime guaranteed right. The “sasa its our time to eat” ideology has dogged us through elections and resulted in our being used as stepping stones and also resulting in the current crop of leaders we have. I think it’s tragic that we go through the same cycle every election period and with this series of write-ups I hope eventually help some if not all voters become actively aware of the immense power and ability that we posses in determining our destinies and futures.
The average voter has no idea that all it takes is a thought process diverting from the norm, from the accepted standards and MO. This divergent way of thinking can be cultivated through education but even more importantly, through increased exposure to information regarding rights and freedoms and the amplified ability to speak and associate freely. All of these points are the hallmarks of democratic societies all over the world. Although some would argue that democracy has its pitfalls and is still not perfect anywhere in the world even the almighty superpower, America. I would counter that argument by suggesting that it’s better to have the ability and space to take control and change one’s destiny as opposed to being suppressed into a subdued existence.
For the Kenyan voter, wake up and smell the strong, rich aroma of self-awareness and actualization that voters world-over are utilizing to their advantage and that our Muslim brothers up-north are only now acting upon. Togetherness, access to information and democratic assertiveness will take us far and will only be propagated by the caliber of leaders we elect who will then create the framework to establish our society as a mature democracy to be envied by many.
As a citizen, my prayer for you my fellow voter is that you may come to realize the power and potential that you possess wielding that small voters card. That’s the Key, that’s all you need. Use it!

it wont always be political but here smthn
Just a thought by John Makite
Hey you, Kenyan voter. What do you think you are doing? You spend every 5 years whining and complaining about the quality or should-i-say crop of leaders you have. Let me highlight your typical behavior during the elections.
Hon. So and So comes on his Prado and a briefcase full of money surrounded by his cronies and body guards. He has not been seen for months on end, some just know his name and don’t even know what he looks like. “Oh mheshimiwa amefika” wacha tuka muone, anaweza tuangushia kakitu”. Ever stop to think those loose notes being thrown at you are actually your tax money? The money that you don’t have that the Government still taxes? So a few notes land on you and what’s the first thing you do? Forget all your problems and speed off to the nearest bar. Of course the Hon. So and So knows he has your vote in the bag.
Let’s not even mention the myriad of “white elephants” sprawled all over the constituency. The half- finished dispensary, classroom, public toilet, chief’s camp or police post. You walk past all these everyday on your way to the shamba or kiosk and none of you stop to think about who is responsible for all this? The waheshimiwa say they don’t want to pay taxes because you keep asking them for money, well, you do need it but you’re are sourcing it from the wrong place. Instead, focus on pressuring these individuals to get the projects completed and restructure the concerned committees to allow for more participation form the citizens.
Wake up fellow voter, get your proverbial head out of the sand and shout at it all. Shout at the poor living standards, high cost of living and seemingly directionless leadership we have. I’m talking about the half-finished project right next to you that your community badly needs, that committee that only seems to meet when it’s convenient i.e. when the mheshimiwa is around and most of all that as the most important entity in the political landscape of this great land, nobody seems to listen to you. Not even the Government, International community or diplomats.
Solution? Get up and get it done. Don’t wait for those moi-era special communities that wrote large reports telling us what we already know or direction from the government once a year during National Days or the ICC to tell you who did what when. You are intelligent enough, resilient and more than patient with the status quo. That’s enough, it doesn’t have to be this way. You can do something about it. Break the cycle, stop the proverbial snow ball rolling down the hill getting bigger and bigger, smashing through everything. Everyone everywhere is using this powerful position that you have as a legally registered voter to change destiny and alter the way things are done. You have the power to get these people out of their comfort zone and really work hard to earn both your vote and respect. That’s all.
